These hand painted wooden jointed dancing figures are reminiscent of toys produced in America since colonial days in various forms - from "limberjacks" to spring wind-up dolls.

These toys have an electric motor in the stage base to operate the dancing figure (powered by one "D" cell battery). An on/off switch is located on the front and a speed regulating lever is on the right side. The battery has an accessible compartment on the bottom. When listening to music, the speed of the figure can be adjusted so that it seems like the dancer is keeping the correct tempo.
